Summary/Abstract: From a sociocultural angle, the article at hand seeks to highlight the interdependence of the literary and the doxic. As a matter of fact, the purpose would be to study, in a differential view, the representation of madness in its proverbial manifestation; in other words, it would be a matter of considering its gender inheritance up close, combining as well images and stereotypes that can clarify the proverbial figuration of madness. It would mean to explain the why of the how while considering the social aspect as a background on which the literary aspect is based and from which it resources. The objective is to examine the proverbial discourse of madness in correlation with the integrative expression that is the doxa of sexes, and to potentially see whether the proverbial figuration of madness works the same as an identity scheme of one gender on account of the other.
