Summary/Abstract: The Concept of System in Linguistics: An Evidence or a new Perspective for Research? This paper wants to take stock of the concept of system in linguistics. It analyzes the definitions of Ferdinand de Saussure, Antoine Meillet and Gustave Guillaume who put this concept at the center of their linguistic approach. It considers the development of the systemic method in the twentieth century and proposes perspectives for a new theoretical approach: systemic linguistics.
