Summary/Abstract: The evaluation of community resources and social problems is one of the main issues that can be completed for the implementation of successful social programs. In fact, it is very important to determine a resources inventory and a useful typology of these resources. The gathering data strategies are very diverse and often contradictory to the extent that a number of projects overlap. In the same time, there are many 'social spaces' that escape to official statistics and impose profound sociological research in the field. In other cases, the communication with local authorities is not the most effective and, in these conditions, some statistical data may exist, but they are not accessible. In our article, we intended to present some examples of data collection from diverse sources about the city of Iaşi, in view of their future use in social projects. In some cases, the collected data was extended to the whole county or the northern east region of Romania.
