Summary/Abstract: Next year, the people of Europe will elect a new European Parliament. Next year will also see the mandate of the current European Commission led by Jean-Claude Juncker coming to an end. Such milestones usually lead to stock-taking or legacy papers. However, as Europe’s face and heart are at stake, let me focus instead on changes that the European Commission has set in motion – namely through the project of the Energy Union – and on the tasks that still lie ahead. We face a number of societal changes and I am convinced that we need our people to be fit and feel fit for the future.
