Summary/Abstract: The following text is an edited and abbreviated version of the Introduction and Chapter One of the PhD dissertation, defended by the author on November 17, 2016, at the University of Pécs, Faculty of Humanities. This work defines the period of communication history that is characterized by the technical transmission of sonic substance, moreover, it analyzes assorted relevant literary references. The pertinent literary corpus is wide-ranging and heterogeneous, the textual versatility in this case is set to illustrate the importance, extensiveness and actuality of this topic. The works of diverse art forms have dealt with this issue, further, the miscellaneous disciplines and types of discourse jointly highlight consequences of the media convergence.
