Summary/Abstract: In the introductory section of this paper, the schematic structure of the Hungarian orthographic system and the factors influencing its content are presented. The most important changes in each linguistic period are highlighted. The main, more prominent part of the paper presents the characteristics of the 12th edition of A magyar helyesírás szabályai [The Rules of Hungarian Orthography], dealing with the changes that came into effect in 2015.
