Summary/Abstract: In the contemporary global economy, services are playing an increasingly important role. This is manifested in the increase in their contribution to the creation of global GDP, employment growth in the area of service activity and the ever-increasing value and volume of international trade in services. The process of globalization and the building of knowledge-based economies are supportive to the development of this sphere. These processes determine the reorientation towards not so much service-based economies with the dominant third sector, but towards service economies, where service functions of businesses from all sectors of the economy are critical. The paper attempts to identify the real comparative advantages of Poland in trade in services. The importance of services in Polish service trade imports and exports was also analyzed indicating changes - both in absolute and relative terms - that occurred in between 2005 and 2015, especially in the context of the financial and economic crisis.
