Selected Natural Disasters in Radom Area – Reaction and Prevention

Summary/Abstract: This compilation consists of the results of everyday surveys and observations made every hour over a ten-year period (1995–2004) at the meteorogical station at the Radom airport and unpublished climatic elaborations from the Hydrometeorogical Centre of the Polish Armed Forces in Warsaw. The introduction defines atmospheric phenomena and presents the dangers connected with fog, precipitation, extreme temperatures, drought, storms and thunderstorms, and strong winds. Next, the frequency of occurrence of these phenomena in the Radom area is shown. The last part of this compilation presents examples of occurrence of extreme phenomena and actions taken by security and crisis management.
