Summary/Abstract: The article examines the development and transformation of the ideas, principles and criteria of scientific editions of medieval Bulgarian literature during the period of XIX century. The scientific editions of the written sources created by the medieval Bulgarian authors, the methods and results of work of editors today are the subject of the study in historical psychology and methodology. A specific feature of this period was the fact that the Slavic Literature researchers at the same time were editors themselves. On the base of the editions of the manuscripts of John the Exarch of Bulgaria and Clement of Ohrid there is an analysis of the recommendations and publishing projects by K. Kalaydovich, P. J. Shafarik, O. M. Bodyansky, A. N. Popov, V. M. Undolsky and A. E. Viktorov. During the XIX century the conception of publishing of the compositions of Slavic literature has evolved from a simple presentation of the manuscript to the scientific community to comprehension of the role of the publisher as the first researcher on the efforts of whom depends the success and the possibility of the subsequent study of the written monuments.
