Summary/Abstract: The article presents the accusations of spying for Russia, levelled against the Polish Prime Minister Józef Oleksy and other Polish left wing politicians. The accusations concerned the highest state officials at the time when Poland was applying for NATO and EU membership. The article mainly presents the mass-media polemics and its effects, and offers an interpretation of the accusations.
