Summary/Abstract: The present research explores the specific representation of God in the personal narratives of a group of Gypsies members of/ belonging to one of the Evangelical churches in Sofia. The study is abundant in quotations and examples supporting the conclusions and revealing the quantity and the variety of the data gathered on the subject. The analysis has shown that in their image of God we can observe dogmatic ideas intertwined with cultural influences of the Romani ethnos which sometimes results in contradictory interpretations. Another consequence is the imbalanced perception of the three hypostases of the Trinity. They seem to have different roles and purposes in the Gypsies’ lives, gaining different significance and thus forming a sort of hierarchy within the Trinity. The author has looked into the anthropological roots of the different phenomena and has offered some possible explanations of the various specific characteristics of the Gypsies’ perception and experience of God.
