The importance of the storage logistics subsystem in the value chain of farms

Summary/Abstract: Farms create their own value chain and at the same time form part of longer supply chains. One of the key problems in agricultural production is its seasonality and cyclicality, which affects the level of prices of agricultural produce and its volatility, and thus the amount of farm income. The analysis shows that expanding the storage logistics sub-system can significantly improve the situation of agricultural producers within the value-added chain, making them independent of fetal sales shortly after harvest, when prices are usually the lowest. Storage while maintaining optimal conditions allows you to obtain higher prices through sales throughout the year and allows you to increase added value by implementing additional activities, such as packaging and distribution to recipients engaged in retail trade.
