Summary/Abstract: Does the acceptance that in an intentional act some object is intended imply that this object exists in certain manner? The acceptance of this implication is the foundation of Husserlian theory of noema, as well as its detailed and precise elaboration in Roman Ingarden?s ontology of purely intentional object. Both theories claim that the object intended exists in the heteronomous mode, i.e. derivatively and dependently with respect to the consciousness. The paper presents a phenomenological analysis of the thesis that purely intentional object exists. Its criticism aims at the basis of the standpoint that there are heteronomous correlates of intentional acts.
