Some Remarks on the Object of Metaphysics according to Francisco Suarez

Summary/Abstract: The question of the unity of the metaphysics was among the outstanding and most discussed in the XVIth and XVIIth century both by scholastic philosophers and philologists-humanists interested primarily to the historical vicissitudes of the Aristotelian text and its reception. The paper highlights the Suarezian attitude towards this topics as a conservative one (in opposition to tendencies splitting metaphysics into ontology and theology), since the Spaniard elaborates a quite complex formula, confirming the unity of the object of metaphysics.
