Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the relationships between Rome and Constantinople in the IX century and the prevailing practice to the West to include the formula "Filioque" in the Symbole of the faith Nicea-Constantinople. In the middle of the IX century the history offers one of its paradoxes. The cyclical circumstances require the orientation of the patriarchate of Constantinople towards Great Moravia and sending the holy Brothers there, in order to propagandize an alphabet in a "barbaric" language. On the other side, the perspicacious ruler Boris is geared to orthodox Byzantium. In their common fight against the heresy "Filioque" both patriarch Photius and the Slavonic proponent of the Enlightment Methodius guard assiduously their orthodox viewpoints and reject the Western innovations.
