Summary/Abstract: The transposition of a literary work in another language is a complex process which includes a few linguistic disciplines such as semantics, stylistics, pragmatics and translational theory. This paper deals with one of the issues of transposition of a literary work from one language and culture into another; this issue is about what is most difficult to understand / transmit when it comes to communication of people from different society / culture, and if there is a space of “untranslatibility“. In this paper I try to identify the areas of (relative) untranslatibility in the transposition process of two Meša Selimović’s works: Derviš i smrt (Dervish and Death), and Tvrđava (The Fortress).
