Summary/Abstract: The article presents the concept of the influence of parameters of plasma cutting (amperage, cutting speed, type and expense of industrial gas) on the quality of a product and the life span of exploitation parts. The product quality is understood as the value of the perpendicular deviation, surface coarseness, influence of the heat zone, hardness. The article indicates the necessity of developing a decision supporting system (DSS), as an element for simplifying and facilitating the estimation of production costs, which depend on parameters of plasma cutting. In the article the concept of a decision support system regarding the selection of plasma cutting parameters enabling costs reduction is presented. Based on the results of the conducted experiments, the impact of selected parameters on the product geometry (the quality of the processed products) and on the time of the plasma cutting process were determined. Comparative analysis for cutting parameters recommended by the manufacturer and determined based on the experience of a plasma cutter operator was performed.
