Summary/Abstract: Nóra Balázs has interviewed Balázs Bodolai, actor of the Hungarian State Theatre of Cluj. Their conversation outlines the ways in which, compared to the first years of his career, his theatrical experience transformed his relationship to acting, artistic efficiency, and quality. According to Bodolai, there is no universal recipe for theatrical work: each rehearsal process is unique, and each director outlines different – ideal, stylistic, and fictional – frameworks, also affecting the actor’s work. Mathias Langhoff, Tom Dugdale, Silviu Purcărete and Andriy Zholdak are theatre directors about whose methods Bodolai, with his experience of 12 years at the Cluj theatre, also has quite a few stories to tell.
