Summary/Abstract: The index of social return on investment (SROI) is an efficient instrument to measure social impact, which has been given special attention over the recent years, and which is most widely used by social investment experts. This paper provides the results of researching a socially-oriented project implemented by an international group of companies in the Republic of Kazakhstan. This paper uses in practice the methodology for calculating social value and the SROI index for a group of interested parties. According to the author, further research related to applying SROI when assessing socially-oriented projects should be aimed at improving the methodological approaches to assessing, ensuring transparency and reliability of quantitative indices, and determining financial proxies.
