Summary/Abstract: Many novels of the contemporary Spanish literature can be ascribed to what is called “historical memory literature” that claims the voices of the people forgotten by the official memory during Franco dictatorship and transition to democracy. None of the novels we will study is part of this genre. Between the saga “The Cemetery of Forgotten Books” by Carlos Ruiz Zafón (2001-2016) and Noticias felices en aviones de papel by Juan Marsé (2014), there are more differences than common points. Nevertheless, in a comparative logic, we decided to propose a reading of these works since both focus on a teenager about to grow up thanks to a work of memory able to correct a traumatic past experience that, when transmitted, allows the protagonists to grow or leave in peace. Also striking is the fact that, unlike the “non fiction literature”, these two novels have a fantastic aesthetic dimension that does not prevent them from achieving an ethical scope in the construction of an individual and collective future.
