Summary/Abstract: The paper is devoted to the issue of word ethics in the language of politicians. The aim of the text is to demonstrate mechanisms of unethical communicative behaviour in the contemporary public sphere as well as to show how to identify them. The paper consists of three main parts: 1. The Introduction, wherein the aims and methodological framework are presented; 2. A historical overview, in which unethical political communication over the last century is presented; 3. Analysis of examples. Apart from the analysis of sample cases, the intention of the text is to encourage reflection on current political narration motivated not only by the will to influence the addressee’s attitudes and the system of values but also to create a vision of reality and to impose the adversary’s judgments.
