Evolution of Logistics Concepts in Business Practice – toward a Unified Theory

Summary/Abstract: The paper analyses the changes of logistics concepts in business practice that have taken place in the last seven decades. Next, a critical synthesis of the most important characteristics of the various logistic concepts, the dominant methodological approaches, and the main objectives of logistics were carried out. Based on the general methodology of science, theoretical fundamentals have been proposed to define the scientific basis for logistics as a dynamically developing field of transdisciplinary knowledge. On this basis, a roadmap has been proposed for the process of emergence of a new scientific knowledge field that logistics can become.
