Summary/Abstract: The present paper deals with two Byzantine seals of the same boulloterion from the late 11th century, which mention a certain Nikephoros, a Byzantine dignitary whose father was of possible Turkish origin, an aktar, who had immigrated into the Byzantine empire. This allowed his son to do a Byzantine career as revealed by the title bestarches that he owned. Although the title has lost its high importance it still shows a certain prestige.
