Summary/Abstract: ALTHOUGH THYROID CANCER IS RELATIVELY UNCOMMON COMPARED TO OTHER CANCERS, THYROIDREPRESENTS THE MOST FREQUENTLY LOCATION FOR MALIGN TUMORS WHEN IT COMES TOENDOCRINE SYSTEM. WHEN IT COMES TO STATISTICS, THYROID CANCER IS MORE FREQUENT IN WOMEN THAT IN MEN WITHA RATIO OF 3:1 AND IT CAN OCCUR AT ANY AGE BUT WITH A HIGHER INCIDENCE OVER 30 YEARS OLDAND ITS AGGRESSIVENESS INCREASES SIGNIFICANTLY IN OLDER PATIENTS.8 THE “GOLDEN STANDARD” FOR THE TREATMENT OF THYROID CANCER REMAINS THE SURGERY,ALTHOUGH, THYROIDECTOMY OFTEN IS NOT ENOUGH SO THE TREATMENT MAY BE COMPLETED WITHRADIOTHERAPY, RADIOACTIVE IODINE, CHEMOTHERAPY OR HORMONE THERAPY. OVERALL, THEPROGNOSIS FOR MOST PATIENTS DIAGNOSED WITH PAPILLARY OR FOLLICULAR THYROID CANCER ISUSUALLY AN EXCELLENT ONE.
