Summary/Abstract: This article attempts to analyze the tendency of changes on the Polish labour market. Professionally active population, the employed and their structure and also a form of employment were especially taken into consideration. The main source of information on situation on the labour market was the quarterly Labour Force Survey. After Poland’s accession to the European Union the number of employed increased and it caused the growth of employment rate in the second quarter of 2017 till 53.9%. The weakness of Polish labour market is more than twice as high as in other EU member states the percentage of the employed under fixed-term contracts. Extending the professional activity of the elderly is now an important developmental challenge, especially given the shrinking and ageing of the population and the increasing risk to the stability of the pension system.
