Summary/Abstract: Wages depend on the situation in the economy and the level of its competitiveness. The attractiveness of the economy is often dictated by the values resulting from the geographical location. A region with high wages is competitive for possible investment in this area. A higher level of wages means higher costs for businesses. Voivodships characterized by a high degree of concentration of non-agricultural economic activity (Silesia) and the location of state administration organs (Mazowieckie) belong to voivodships with a high level of remuneration. In contrast, in typical agricultural provinces such as Warmian-Masurian and Sub-Carpathian wages are at a much lower level. With a high concentration of industry, a situation may arise where a specific economic entity becomes a decision-maker in the scope of shaping the remuneration policy, the so-called a leader determining the market level of wages.
