Summary/Abstract: The study deals with the theoretical part of the analysis of the early modern script as a part of its classification. It focuses palaeographical terminology modified for the needs of early modern Latin palaeography – one of the auxiliary historical sciences, which as an integral part of Latin palaeography studies early modern Latin script. The author puts described terms into a unified system enriched with his own practice experience with the given problematics. He proposes several specifications and changes of meanings given his expertise. The author primarily concurrently uses initiatives from the discussion of two expert representants of the discipline, Jaroslav Kašpar and Stanislav Polák, which took part in the 1970s and 1980s and which resonated in assessing studies in the 1990s. The author also takes into consideration newer ideas taken from the computerization of the archival descriptions. The author outlines his study as a didactical help for the teaching of early modern palaeography as well, since it gives a comprehensive overview of the basic terminology.
