Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with various anticipatory mechanisms and techniques used in Bulgarian and British ads and their applications in the English language classroom as ads and commercials are a rich source of different structures and information related to certain cultural and social norms, models and images of behaviour, values and beliefs. Some suggestions for activities with these texts are presented in support of the issues discussed.
