Contemporary trends in public management. Implications for local social policy

Summary/Abstract: The article presents contemporary trends in public management processes in the context of the local social policy. The purpose of the article is therefore assumed to identify the general and fundamental rules of the New Public Management and Governance and to indicate the way of their possible implementation in activities of local social policy. The theoretical part of the paper describes the evolution of the concept of public management. It also focuses on explaining the concepts of public participation and co-production of public services. The empirical part of the article presents a case study of the use of co-production and co-creation of public services in local self-government in the Netherlands.
