Summary/Abstract: The focus of interest in this article is on the formation of Bulgarian politico- theological doctrines by the end of the 9th and beginning of the 10th c. that Bulgarian Knyaz Boris-Mihail was God’s chosen and he possessed transcendental power. In regard with this, the image of the baptist knyaz, represented in the narrative “The Miracle of St. George with the Bulgarians” (10th c.) is studied. It is also analyzed the multilevel semantic structure of the image of the monk tsar Boris in the Bulgarian historico- apocalyptical work “The Narration of Prophet Isaiah How He Was Taken by an Angel to the Seventh Heaven” (11th c.). The conclusion of the article places emphasis on the idea that the process of establishment of theocracy model in the Bulgarian state after 888/9 stimulated the development of Bulgarian political theology and eschatology, which significant component is the idea of the Bulgarians’ providential mission – to protect Christianity from heresies and to spread it at the end of times among the peoples that had not been baptized yet.
