Comparative Analysis of the Legal Nature of the Liens on the Ship

Summary/Abstract: The study attempts to analyze the legal nature of liens on the ship, referred to as maritime liens. There is no definition of maritime liens in our legal doctrine. A comparative analysis has been made with other Marine States and the approaches they adopt regarding liens on ships. Emphasis is also placed on the particularities characterizing the maritime liens and their difference from the mortgage on a ship. The international legal acts that regulate these issues are also discussed.
