Opposition in Lenin’s “House”. Defeat in the First World War and “National” Unity in the Ranks of Bolshevik Party. 1918

Summary/Abstract: In the article based on the published and unpublished sources were defined more exactly modern historiographic ideas of influence of the Brest peace as total point for our state in World War I on alignment of forces in main of two (till July, 1918) are specified ruling parties — Bolshevist. Within the limits both ruling parties — Bolsheviks and the Left revolutionary socialist — as opponents of the “obscene” and “shameful” world acted the second party in full strength and considerable part of the first, almost allocated in independent party. The leader of world revolution, the chairman of the Soviet government (Council of People’s Commissars — SNK), the founder of Bolshevist party and the member of its Central Committee V.I. Lenin, proceeding from tactical reasons and being covered with very doubtful forecast about fast implementation of world revolution, once again began to be perceived as the opportunist. Emergence of the third force turned out to be inevitable consequence. Sverdlov began to be perceived in party “as the conductor of policy of the fair world between the people […] and at the same time as the ardent patriot […] the socialist homeland”. It was promoted much by that circumstance that Ya. M. Sverdlov together with the majority of the Central Committee insisted when renaming party on its Seventh congress in March, 1918 in “Russian communistic party” as V. I. Lenin in the spirit of own ideas of world revolution that is called “for growth” tried to impose the name “Communistic” that was dangerous with conditions of the national tragedy which, despite sincere statements for the internationalism, many Party members apprehended extremely painfully. The fiasco in World War I yielded absolutely unpredictable result — the head of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of RCP(b), placing on key posts in the party and Soviet device of opponents Lenin to the politician became the main fighter for “national idea” in party of the connected proletarians. It by right possessed honor to initiate denunciation of the “obscene” world after November revolution in Germany.
