Summary/Abstract: The study of educational culture has been mainly developed in two contexts: either in France, with a multicultural public, or in another country, with a homogeneous public. A third context is emerging when French as a Foreign Language is taught in a different country than France to a multicultural public. Or, in this configuration, conflicts may occur between the educational culture of the teacher and that of the students. The present study aims to build a theoretical framework for this problematic, to analyse the teachers’ dicourse by using this framework, and to shape a few important starting points for teaching strategies. Our main field of study was the teaching learning of French as a Foreign language in Qatar. We conducted interviews in two institutions: the French Institute of Qatar and the American School of Doha.
