Summary/Abstract: One of the voivodeship governor’s areas of public activities encompasses health safety. Being the element of this safety, health protection is the area requiring both responsible and efficient measures, as well as considerable financial means. One of the aspects of the governor’s activity within this area is preventing and eradicating human infections and infectious diseases. Within the local area competence, the governor may announce a sanitary epidemiological risk or an epidemic on the territory of the entire voivodeship or its part, introducing orders, prohibitions or obligations provided for in the laws in force.
