Summary/Abstract: Numerous ideas and initiatives for regional economic integration were discussed everywhere in Europe in the period between the beginning of the 20th century and World War II. The present paper discusses the projects for economic cooperation and integration between the two world wars, which involved completely or partially the states of Southeast Europe. Attention is devoted mainly to some more important projects, especially from the first half of the 1930s, namely those aimed at creating an Agrarian Bloc of the countries of Eastern Europe, of a Danubian Economic Bloc and of the Balkan Alliance. The place and role of Bulgaria and of the other Balkan states in them are demonstrated in the context of the geopolitical confrontation between France and Germany in the region.
