Summary/Abstract: The study examined the nature, understanding and components of company’s reputation in the modern sense. The aim of the study is to show the essence, importance and significance of the company’s reputation in the environment in which it conducts business and to indicate – based on pilot studies – how the company’s managers (owners) understand the reputation of the company from the area of the Lodz province on reputation and how they perceive and appreciate the reputa-tion of their company in the local environment. All the considerations in the study focus on the thesis that the company's value, as well as trust in it, depend to the highest degree on the reputation it possesses in the environment in which it operates.
