Summary/Abstract: The book provides a comprehensive overview of the liability of the carrier for the death of and personal injury to passengers, with special emphasis on the analysis of the new regime pursuant to provisions of the 2002 Protocol, the application of which is yet to come. The 2002 Protocol was adopted with the aim to harmonize the maritime law and improve the position of passengers carried by sea at the international level. The application of the 2002 Protocol inpractice is likely to cause some controversial issues.
