Summary/Abstract: Old Romanian literature includes texts elaborated in Romanian language in the 16th,17th , and 18th century. The majority of the texts is represented by translations (adaptedin many cases) from the Greek language or the Slavonic language (the cultural andadministrative languages of that time), aimed at facilitating the understanding ofreligious, legal, historical and general knowledge messages. The old Romanian texts arepart of the cultural post-Byzantin space. A special place among the old Romanian textsis taken by the translations of the Holy Bible into the Romanian.Starting with the 19 th century, the old Romanian texts have been the object ofthe research conducted by linguists and historians. The present paper argues that thesetexts can also be studied from a historical-philosophical perpective.
