Summary/Abstract: The article deals with metaphorical usage of the Russian verbs with semantics ‘the destruction of the subject’ such as cherstvet’ (‘get stale’), plesnevet’ (‘grow mouldy’), kisnut’ (‘turn sour’), rzhavet’ (‘become rusty’) and their aspectual pairs. Changes in the inner world of man are understood as changes that occur with objects in the outside world. The process of transforming the state of the object corresponds with the human life. Material for the study consists of examples from contemporary literary and media texts from the National corpus of the Russian language.
