Summary/Abstract: The history of the Poznań Bambers dates back to the beginning of the 18th century when the Catholic settlers from Bamberg, located in Upper Franconia, arrived in Poznań. They were invited to rebuild suburban farms after wars which had been waged in the 17th century. Nobody expected that for many subsequent decades they would enter the cultural landscape of the city and its satellite settlements. The article describes the process of adaptation and integration of the Bambers in the local environment while maintaining a separate ethnic specificity and, most importantly, their identity.
