Summary/Abstract: The question of Načertanije belongs to the narrowest circle of those where histor ical science reached its highest achievements. However, despite the exceptional scientific results, the rigorous politisation of this topic unfolded at the same time, leading to absurd assumptions. A non-scientific approach to Načertanije is evident in regard to its creation (authorship) and qualification. It has been undeniably proven that the Serbian political thought, with its clearly defined national ideal (liberation and unification) was known to prince Adam Chartorinsky when he proposed the design of a plan of Serbia’s state and national policy. All what Chartorinsky advised, together with his agents, was not a novelty for the political leadership of the Principality of Serbia. It was advised that a policy be pursued with the aim of creating a South Slavic / Yugoslav state, which was rejected by I. Garašanin. Instead, Garašanin set the objective of liberation of Serbian lands (then a part of Turkey) and their integration to the Principality of Serbia. This clearly indicates that the manuscript (Načertanije) is Serbian by nature. Ascribing to Načertanije a Greater Serbian, Yugoslav character, in which some authors saw “Serbian imperialism”, is a pure invention, typical of a quasi-science.
