Inevitability of interpretation vs experiencing art

Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt, situated in the theory of art, to reflect over the issue of interpretation in experiencing art, paying special attention to the plastic arts and music. Considerations concentrate on first of all selected aspects of understanding and defining interpretation to move to various levels of the functioning of this category within the scope of visual arts and music accordingly. The conception of music interpretation, and, above all, the specificity of the “matter” of music and its reproductive, “active” presence in the cultural reality revealed certain differences connected with the interpretation of a plastic and music work on the one hand, and, allowed for accepting an assumption of experiencing art as the experience revealing and crystallizing in interpretation each time.
