Summary/Abstract: A rich music legacy of Józef Świder, an outstanding modern Polish composer is completed with opera music. It includes "Magnus", "Wit Stwosz" and "Bal baśni" operas written to librettos by Tadeusz Kijonka. Thematically diversified performances aroused interest with their meaning among music lovers of the opera music. The action in "Magnus" takes place in three time-spans, from the 11th century to modernity. "Wit Stwosz" refers to certain events from master’s life, him being an author of the altar in St. Mary’s Church in Cracow, but is not his biography. The most outstanding reviews were given to the last of the operas mentioned, "Bal baśni" with a subtitle "Musical — opera dla dzieci oraz wszystkich, którzy byli dziećmi". Both music and its libretto perfectly matched the taste of a young receiver. The text contains composer’s and music critics’ opinions proving the criteria of the choice of the form, composer’s opinions and a music variety of works.
