Summary/Abstract: The material of the article refers to the numerical evolution of the Armenian community of Bessarabia in the Tsarist period and is based in particular on the archive data collected at the National Archive of Armenia. The study refers to both the general number of Armenians in the space between the Prut and the Nistru, as well as the distribution on the six main Armenian parishes, namely: Hotin, Chisinau, Hyncesti, Orhei, Akkerman, Ismail and later Bălți. Some material from the National Archives of the Republic of Moldova as well as edited and historiographical sources were also used to make certain moments and figures. Only the Armenian-Gregorian branch was taken into account, the Catholic Armenians, changing their confessional orientation, being virtually excluded from the Armenian community.
