Summary/Abstract: The article compares the jurisprudence of the Human Rights Chamber for Bosnia and Herzegovina and Human Rights Advisory Panel in Kosovo with regard to families of disappeared persons. Both bodies have recognized the suffering of those families, relying primarily on the European Human Rights Convention and the European Court of Human Rights jurisprudence. In the article, their approaches with regard to temporal jurisdiction, violating the prohibition of torture and inhuman treatment and the right to respect of private and family life have been compared and evaluated. The article scrutinizes how the European Courts jurisprudence has been applied by the two bodies, and whether they had any influence on the European Court of Human Rights.
