Summary/Abstract: Dealing with the past, is not an easy task, for no one. Now that the cases before the ICTY. are almost over and the Tribunal is closing its doors, we would imagine that it brought some closure for the victims of the war. Unfortunately, some judgements, including the last ones, have shadowed that well-deserved closure. The present article will focus on the impact of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in the Balkan area, especially from the point of view of the case-law perspective and on how the Tribunal is being perceived in the Balkan community. Aspects of the Tribunal’s work shall be briefly presented and we intend to present some alternatives for the process of reconciliation in the area, applicable after the ICTY terminates its mandate.
