Exploration of Body Language in Technologic Dance

Summary/Abstract: Can choreography become a digital art? That is the question whose answer I am still searching for, studying and applying teaching methods, from a cognitive, mathematic, technologic perspective of dance composition. Being convinced that digitalizing choreography could be a new pedagogic model, I have included digital techniques of body instrumentalization in my course of Dance Methodology, where the postmodern fluidity of the body movement fused with electronic music, with multimedia technologies, etc. and have reached a cross-disciplinary approach specific to contemporary dance by conceptualizing the body technique. In 2017, in the ElektroArts Festival, I proposed a dance performance, Diverse Dimensions, in which the human body is transformed from a hyper-organic ballet body to an abstract technologic body. The choreographic moments explored the body-space relation that is conditioned by digital technology. At the same time, using the choreographic structures as a database, the choreographic language is transformed into a digital algorithmic language.
