Summary/Abstract: Nowadays, Iran and Syria are two states which apparently back each other’s policies in the Middle East. However, their racial origins are totally different, these two countries have been integrated within the sectarian context and support this condition due to their policies. However, their relationship is not limited with the context stated above. Syria has a huge importance in Iran’s ambition of being a great power in the Middle East. As a part of the Shiite Crescent, Syria has a key position int he context of its relationship with other states of the region. In this respect Syria is important in both strategic and geopolitical sense. Thus, by sending Shiite militia to Syria, Iran is utilising its power to the fullest, in order to maintain the regime.
