Summary/Abstract: The European Union represents a supranational community of European states, created as a result of cooperation and integration process that began in the fifties of the 20th century, with the aim of promoting peace and common prosperity, and economic, political, cultural and social cooperation overall. For the countries of the Western Balkans, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, the EU integration process is taking place through the political framework of the stabilization and association as alternatives to non-democracy, instability and lagging. Acceleration of the European integration process of BiH would at the same time represent acceleration of the internal reform and change processes, and membership in the European Union by itself – would be confirmation that Bosnia and Herzegovina has become a stable and prosperous European state.
