Summary/Abstract: In parallel with the perpetual occupation of the lands by the Ottoman Empire in the Hungarian territories, especially during the 15 century, there occured the necessity of the ammunition supply needed in order for the defence of the fortresses in the border regions far from the core (central) states. The powder as the leading one in this ammunition which was produced in Budin and Temeşvar, the two great centers having all kinds of transportation facilities in the Balkans, was extremely important in terms of the security of the border defense systems established against the Habsburgs. The local powder production policy of the Ottomans also reflects a utilitarian administrative style implemented against the war depression. In this study, by considering the nature of the dissemination of powder technology, the details of the local powder production and its logistics have been discussed within the scale of Temeşvar and Budin, the two border regions established against the Habsburgs in the second half of the 16th century. Finally, it has been aimed to make a contribution to the evolution of the local powder production in the border region and its results in accordance with the historical powder heritage of the Ottoman.
